I thought Opus might have been into “Vanity Fair” which had just been reborn in 1983, right before this comic strip though Harpers in its own right has had some good articles and back then in the ’80s had contributors like John Updike and before my time back in the Nam era Seymour Hersh did publish his My Lai Massacre article in Harpers which was cutting edge. Anyhow, back in 1984 I would have recommended that Opus read The New Republic and Mother Jones to get a good handle of what was happening in America circa 1984.
WOT? Author Roger Tory Peterson is one of the most prominent authors on birds. SERIOUSLY doubt he’d make up this silleh-ness. Whatchoo been smokin’, Breathed?

As a nature enthusiast I’m kind of ashamed to admit that I had to google Roger Tory Peterson. Turns out he’s a rather famous ornithologist.

“…a meal of cold, jellied herring entrails with catsup.” Bahahahahaha!!! Sounds like a Danish meal, to me!!!

Just goes to show ya; anyone can get a book published these days, even some crazed spreader of fake penguin info!

I prefer my herring to be pickled. And everybody knows herring is better with mustard!
