John: Class, meet Huey Freeman. Huey is one of our new students. Huey, tell us a little about yourself. Huey: Look, I realize I'm probably the first real life black person most of you have ever seen... And I don't want to be here anymore than you want me here, but we're stuck together. So don't start none, won't be none. You got beef and I'll break my foot off in your behind Jackie Chan style - understood? John: What a charming young man... Huey: Hey! That goes double for you - Mr. Sarcasm.

This reminds me of when my father took me out of neighborhood school and enrolled me in a predominantly White elementary school. Talk about culture shock! Of course I was leery at first, but as time went on, naturally I adjusted. One of the first things I noticed was how far ahead the students were in their classwork as opposed to the ones from my neighborhood. But as I grew into adulthood, I realize how much that type of environment and education would benefit me later on in life.
