A home about a half mile away burned when the people went out to breakfast and left candles burning.They took their dog with them but the cat is presumed dead.Leaving a cat alone with burning candles sounds suspicious to me.
A friend of my son was asked to demonstrate a welding procedure in an autobody class. He did a nice neat weld and asked “Any questions?” After a few seconds, the one girl in the class said “Did you know your sleeve is on fire?” This, plus the high school lab safety lecture in which the normally adept science teacher set a student’s notebook on fire and cut himself, demonstrate that there’s nothing like an audience to help you screw up.
