Thank you, Georgia! Hopefully we’ll see the very first Tommy strip and the one where he offers water to the racers and holds up a 10 and the one…….heck I want to see them all!
Love the flamingo pjs. Only Tommy could pull them off. Our peep toads have gone quiet. I have a creek to my west, and the new bank to my east has a large retention pond which is also now full of them. I had them in stereo for almost a month. And, yes, they are deafening.
I notice that the original run for this strip was July 11, 2019. Is Georgia picking Tommy strips that match the current calendar or will some of the tribute strips be from dates that don’t match?
Ah beautiful Tommy, RIP and Bill although unfortunately I didn’t have a lot of interaction with him, he seemed like a kind soul. (I now have a technical problem with my lower lip – it’s quivering).
It’s been so dry here, our frogs and toads have been very quiet. :(
Poor Tommy. I don’t think I interacted with Bill, but from all of you, I think he must have been very kind. I can picture him sitting with Tommy on his lap, petting him, while they’re both reading the strip and the comments. *tear
We used to have frogs in a marshy empty lot behind out house (we life in a city), but then they raised the ground and built apartments. Not a good tradeoff IMHO.
I’ve been wearing favorites from my infamous Aloha Shirt collection in his honor since Saturday. May he delight in relaxing travels full of amazing sights, tantalizing smells and and merry meetings. May he find as much luck and love in his next post as he had in this most recent one.
Was there any advanced notice that we would be doing Tommy tribute week? This is a wonderful surprise to me! This is a good one, as it highlights Tommy’s wonderful ability to find pleasure in any situation.
O.T. Suzie’s colostomy. She sounds much better and may go home tomorrow. She’s a bit down about all the foods she can’t have right now but is dealing with it. Her daughter just arrived and is staying for a couple of weeks. She appreciates and thanks you for all of the prayers and support The Orb has been sending. (As do i)
For those lucky enough to have access to the print version in newspapers, is this the same strip that appears in today’s newspapers? I wonder if it is just some sort of serendipitous synchronicity that this repeat appeared today or if Go Comics could swap it out more easily than the newspapers?
Went to a construction site at a remote location. They just finished painting inside, and the paint stench was very bad. Then I saw a frog clinging to the wall. It was very slick and looked like it was in bad shape. Carefully picked it up, took my water bottle and the frog outside to the tree line, rinsed the baby off, and set it down. A woodland frog native to the Pax River area. It hopped off while I was watching. I hope it survived.
In my neighborhood, we have what I call “Paul Revere” dogs. Their owners let them hang out the window of the car and bark incessantly as they criss-cross the town. It sets off every dog along the way to bark in return – more surely than the siren of a fire engine. Apparently, there is no known cure for the “bark deafness” of such drivers.

That deaf dumb and blind kid sure plays a mean pinball…
Ain’t got no distractions
Can’t hear no buzzers and bells
Don’t see no lights a-flashin’
Plays by sense of smell
Always gets a replay
Never seen him fall
That deaf, dumb and blind kid
Sure plays a mean pinball
and wears a wicked flamingo PJ Onesie
RIP Tommy

Starry, starry night
Wear your pjs pink and gold
Listen to those peep toads bold
And report on the beauty oft untold
With your great big heart
Love the trees and the daffodils
The warmest nights and the winter chills
You bring color to the snowy, linen land
And we understand how your kind tranquility
Helps this tired old world find some sanity
And how you lived happy and free
In time we’ll heal, we don’t know how
We so miss you now ❤️

Neil Sedaka: Laughter in the Rain
Late in the evening we hear the spring chorus
The tiny frogs singing joyfully
Our dear friend Tommy reports on their doings
In his flamingo jammies he joins the merry throng
Adding his joy as they sing their song
…….
Oh, I hear laughter in the night
Joining in the party with the cat we love
Oh, how I love dear Tommy’s laugh
And the happy way he makes me feel!
…….
Out in a world of deafening beauty
Tommy makes us all feel part of the scene
Happy all the while with his infectious smile,
Making it seem like a joyous dream!
And his love will forever remain!
…….
Oh, I hear laughter in the night
Joining in the party with the cat we love
Oh, how I love dear Tommy’s laugh
And the happy way he makes me feel!

Toad (and frog) peeps, croaks, etc, are actually amphibian pick-up lines. “Single male peep toad ISO single female peep toad for one-night-stand.”
