Not to mention that they can’t agree on a protocol, the big-endians hate the little-endians, they want to use a secure line, but need to get authorization from a human, etc.. etc..

Committees exist to bring together people who want to do something in order to admit that nothing can be done. Oh, sorry, that should read, the Congress.

My department once nominated and elected one of our people to be our representative on a committee because she was the only one who hadn’t shown up for the meeting to nominate and elect a representative.

dump Pam.within 30 seconds the dominant male will order the rest to show up zero hour. .keep Pam in the room demanding everything has to be fair, and they’ll argue forever.

A committee is a dark alley down which ideas are lured, and quietly strangled. Can’t remember who I’m quoting here…

Scott Adams wishes he’d thought of this.

Time for the standard definition of a committee: A group of people that keeps minutes and wastes hours (if not days, weeks,…).

Of course Pepsi’s anti-meeting attitude was 20-years-ago. Don’t think it’s that way today.

The effective IQ of a mob is the lowest member’s, divided by the number of members. That said, I once worked in Hughes Newport Hybrids, and Al Krum’s Monday meetings were gems. Once around the room while Al checked off items in his B-size spreadsheet; if you had something of a problem, he’d talk with you after. If the whole group needed to hear it, OK, but the whole thing was a half-hour TOPS, and off to do real work.Outside that level, there was the usual “Short Circuit on Mahogany Row” which seems universal.
