And how about “vehicle!” The first time I heard it, I got tickled (I guess, because phonetically it sorts of sounds like “tickle”), and I thought the guy who said it was kidding me, and I didn’t believe that it was a real word. So I asked my dad, and he confirmed that it was, indeed, a real word, and I marvelled at that. Since then, there have been a plethora (heh) of words that, when I think about them, sound really weird — like most of them?
