I had a ’55 Pontiac Chief that I bought used in 1957. Loved that car & drove it all over the place. At some point, I even installed seat belts,,,,,yes, even then! But, you had to buy & install them yourself. Luckily, my best buddies ( that I worked with ) enjoyed working on my car, too!
When my airbags deployed upon my Saturn’s impact with a tree in the road, I smelled them before I saw them. They were white and did NOT hit me anywhere.

What about shoulder and lap belts? Wish they still put white walls on the late models. I miss those.
