Funny how cartoon and movie shorthand still show plans as being blueprints, with white lines on a dark blue background. I started drafting in the late 70s and that kind of print was obsolete even then. Every engineering and architectural company had diazo printers at that time, which print dark lines on a light background.
Nowadays technical drawings are of course printed up on huge bubble jet printers after the electronic file is sent to the printer.
I took two years of drafting in high school in ’67 & ’68. It helped a lot when I became a CNC machinist in the late 90s when it came to reading prints and programming the machine. R&D was often to slow getting programs out to the floor.
