Calvin and Hobbes by Bill Watterson for February 28, 1986
February 27, 1986

Transcript:
Calvin: Here's a good movie! "Vampire Sorority Babes"! Hobbes: It says you have to be eighteen to get in. Calvin: Heck, that's no problem! Let's go! Woman: This is a new one. Calvin: Two please. ...I mean, one.
Theaters aren’t mandated to check for ID. The R rating is determined by the Motion Picture Association of America, which is not a federal agency. It is a non-government organization. Therefore, theaters are only obligated and not mandated to check for ID. The worst they can do is deny you; the best is allow you in. This varies from theater to theater. If you’re 18, you’re above the 17 age restriction for R-rated movies. And even though the R rating says R movies are inappropriate for children, I saw an R-rated movie with one of my parents when I was in middle school.
There’s a lot of problems with Calvin’s disguise. This is in list form, but the comment will probably mess it up.
1. Calvin, you should stick out YOUR head, not Hobbes.2. You need to wear trendier clothes. Maybe look in your Mom or Dad’s closet for some retro stuff.3. You should have memorized your lines before you got in. The lady will suspect you are not an 18-year-old if you stumble.

This was back before theaters were mandated to check for ID. Even though I’m 18, I have yet to see my first R-rated movie in a theater.

Calvin what were you thinking? Everyone knows tigers don’t wear trench coats – they aggravate the tail.

lets just go to the fact that calvin is 6, and he tried to go to a movie allowing people triple his age.
