Calvin and Hobbes by Bill Watterson for December 27, 1986
Transcript:
Calvin: Hey, Dad, I have a question. Dad: Sure, Calvin. What do you want to know? Calvin: If you plugged you nose and mouth right before you sneezed... ...Would the sneeze go out your ears, or would your head explode? Dad: I was kind or hoping you had a math problem or something. Calvin: ...Either way, I'm scared to try it.

Death by trapped sneeze.

Dad could do the math — and suck all the fun out of it!
I’m thinking the ears would go first.
But if you stuffed corks into your ears, then you might pop your eyeballs out!

Well, that’s kind of a two-part answer. The snot just stays in your nose and has it plugged up until you use a tissue. The air goes out your ears, usually causing them to pop.

According to the “Frozen” teaser trailer (the one that features Olaf in pursuit of his nose), your head explodes.

Solution to Calvin’s question: I always cover my mouth and nose when I sneeze, and it comes out of my ears for some reason.

I was thinking your head would “explode”. I used to do this thing when I was little where I would plug my mouth and nose and try to breathe out and the air would go through my eyes, I found. It was creepy so I stopped doing it. Maybe that’s why I wear glasses now…
