Calvin and Hobbes by Bill Watterson for August 01, 1989
Transcript:
Calvin: You know what's weird? I don't remember much of anything until I was three years old. Half of my life is a complete blank! I must've been brainwashed! Good heavens, what kind of sicko would brainwash an infant?! And what did I know that someone wanted me to forget?? Boy, am I mysterious. Hobbes: I seem to recall you spent most of the time burping up.

I thought Calvin “caught” Hobbes in the first strip.

Wow that must mean that Hobbes (I’m taking us all into reality and talking about the stuffed animal) is really old! I mean I still have some stuffed animals that I have had for at least 13 years and are doing fine… but I only took them out like once a month and they might as well have been in a glass case in the meantime. As far as I can tell Calvin plays with Hobbes at least 3 times a day and when he does he tends to drown him, suffocate him, bury him, lose him, leave him in the dirt, pile drive him… like seriously is Hobbes made from dalekanium?
