Calvin and Hobbes by Bill Watterson for October 27, 1989
Transcript:
Calvin: I've got to write a report for school. Hobbes: What's your topic? Calvin: Bats. Can you imagine anything more stupid? Heck, I don't know anything about bats! How am I supposed to write a report on a subject I know nothing about?! It's impossible! Hobbes: I suppose research is out of the question. Calvin: Oh, like I'm going to learn about bats and then write a report?! Give me a break!

Too bad he’s not more open-minded. He’d probably find them almost as fascinating as dinosaurs if he did read up on them.

Bats are awesome. If only he knew about them before being given an assignment about them. Now he’ll never learn about bats. Rats.

Better to remain in blissful ignorance rather than be a slave to mental molding, eh?

In yesteryears, you could imagine the difficulty in trying to research a topic as the only means would be going to the library and flipping through piles of books, whereas now a few touches of the screen provides access to everything under the sun.
