I do believe there is a typo in the third panel. I believe that should read that “… messages in our textbooks, telling us to turn into our parents when the Saturnians attack!”
Calvin has such an imagination. The teacher should have him write out his stories and read them to the class. Someday he will be a famous writer or comic.
As for the freshly printed mimeographed papers, yeah I well remember that. We all would sniff and enjoy.
One time our English teacher called in late with car trouble and the principal, who was a crusty old man, came to the room to tell us that he was going to monitor the class til she arrived. Well someone had put a thumb tack in her chair and he sat on it and scared us all, he gave no reaction, just sat there. When she showed up he got up and walked out of the room with the thumb tack stuck in the seam of his suit jacket, in fact he walked around the rest of the day like that, no one not even the teachers would tell him.

That quote is by H.L. Mencken. i know that because it was on my iGoogle page today! ; P
BritishB I do belive that is not a typo Calvin is using “in” correctly turn in our parents as in give them away. All though I don’t think Calvin would mind that.
Has anyone noticed that Calvin seems to have a very complex vocabulary for a six year old? I think he really is a genius, he just doesn’t know how to use it properly! :-)

Calvin, Calvin, Calvin, if you don’t read the assignments you are only assuming what they say, And you know what happens when you assume……
Susie, just shake your head in sorrow and walk away, it will be lunch time soon enough and Calvin will show you his monkey brain sandwich.

Calvin wrote the book on conspiracy theories. Should be required reading in our school systems.

I remember sniffing the freshly printed ditto (spirit duplicator) papers. It’s a wonder we didn’t all go blind, that stuff is wood alcohol!

I mean, isn’t that the greatest fear or all?

After years of the teacher using the same ditto masters, you spent more time tying to read the question than to figure out the answer.

Art class…brings back memories. I knew I had no future in art when my teacher asked me to write down what I had drawn.

Calvin’s line in the last panel is the quintessence of Watterson’s genius.
