Hobbes likes the thrill of tobaggan danger better than sled danger. He’s always on the toboggan.

I’m there! I’d love to try! I’m bringing my own sled though because that one’s definitely not going to make it!

Calvin the Olympian! Makes me think of watching the ski jumping (?) events where they launch themselves into a series of twists and flips before coming down. Couldn’t help wondering how a guy would fare taking that hill on one of those blue plastic sleds.

Go, Calvin, Go! Live the dream!

From the engineering stand point, that loop is solid. If it was built while watering it, as Gweedo Murray said above, it should be capable of taking the sled without breaking.

This is going to be a lot of fun. I am sure Hobbes will want to be in for the second ride.

You get more regrets from the things you didn´t do than from the things you did do.

    Go, Calvin, Go!!!!!!!!!!!!

Unless that construction has some ice holding it together, as soon as Calvin hits it it will disinigrate into a fine, powdery snow and Calvin will be much the worse for wear somewhere farther down the hill.

The sled is too big for the loop. 2. Calvin is not heavy enough to make a sled that big function properly. If it works at all it will end in tragedy. I used to have a 5 person sled when I was a kid. It needed lots of weight to make it slide like it should. Fortunately for me, the other kids loved it and I got my choice of all the left over small sleds.

When I was 10 or so we made a tunnel at the bottom of a hill. It was about 5 feet long at first. After lots of wipeouts inside the tunnel, we kept making it wider - then longer - probably 8 or 9 feet long …then…the sun came out and it all melted away. What a fun memory though.

This makes me think of the old Wide World of Sports intorduction:

“The thrill of victory - the agony of defeat”.

The thrill of victory - Calvin’s vision of upcoming events, The agony of defeat - Calvin’s upcoming reality.
