It’s the only way your parents can keep their sanity.

We simply locked our kids in their room, because we were afraid to let them outside. But now that they are in their 30s, we wish they would start paying rent.

It would have been funnier if Watterson had done a cameo. But it’s still great.

“Go outside and play and take your three needy cats with you” is what I’ll be telling my husband later… Enjoy it before “you know what happens”.

You could’ve done it in your room.

He does ride his bicycle once in awhile – even to work.

I was more of an indoorsy kid, preferring to read or play video games than play outside. But my stepmother didn’t see it that way, and I was always sent outside during the summer. Even after you reach an age when playing outside loses any kind of fun.

We were always outside, home for meals & before dark, no-one even asked where we had spent the time!

Although we had a lot of constructive things to play with inside; such as, Tinker Toys, Erector Sets, Lincoln Logs, we spent much more time outside whether it was freezing snow in Winter, or stifling hot in Summer..After all, our parents drew the line at firing the BB guns indoors! If we wanted to shoot at each other, we had to go outside…

That looks like a Pelikan drawing pen. Watterson probably (certainly!) used one one this strip.

My parents used to tell us to go outside and get the stink blown off us. How rude! Okay they said it in jest. Except the part about going outside.

How come the fun of childhood imagination is never appreciated by the grown-ups?! ;)
