Based on the models constructed by climate change scientists, Calvin is 100% correct. But he forgot it mention it is man-made. It’s because people drive around in the daytime with their headlights on… that light bounces off the ground and up into space, pushing back the light from the sun. That back pressure is causing irreparable damage to the suns photon emitters.
“In the space of one hundred and seventy-six years the Lower Mississippi has shortened itself two hundred and forty-two miles. That is an average of a trifle over one mile and a third per year. Therefore, any calm person, who is not blind or idiotic, can see that in the Old Oolitic Silurian Period, just a million years ago next November, the Lower Mississippi River was upwards of one million three hundred thousand miles long, and stuck out over the Gulf of Mexico like a fishing-rod. And by the same token any person can see that seven hundred and forty-two years from now the Lower Mississippi will be only a mile and three-quarters long, and Cairo and New Orleans will have joined their streets together, and be plodding comfortably along under a single mayor and a mutual board of aldermen. There is something fascinating about science. One gets such wholesale returns of conjecture out of such a trifling investment of fact.”Mark Twain, “Life on the Mississippi”
I don’t care whose birthday it commemorates, what the position of the sun is, how many days those candles lasted, etc. etc. I just want to drape myself in tinsel, hoist a Rusty Nail and dance with joy for the beauty of life. Anyone who’s got a problem with that, complain to Dionysius!
BTW, Jesus was not born in December, more likely in September, but who is counting? Historically shepherds were in the field when Christ was born, but they were not there in December, too cold. Joseph and Mary came to Bethlehem to register for a census, not done in winter because of the cold. The Bible itself indicates a time in the fall, more likely September or October. But, it does not matter WHEN He was born, what does matter is that He WAS born.

Doesn’t Calvin remember last year when he tried to bean Suzie with a snowball, but then she…never mind. Better he doesn’t remember.

I love Winter! I’m pleased to say I was born in the Winter so maybe that’s why I enjoy it so much.

“Little Dee” had Blake the dog make the same conclusion every year, and his friends’ hints to the contrary didn’t help.
