The discount factor to present-value a reward of future reward is indeterminate. One must find/recognize the immediate value of loving one’s neighbor to not snowball Susie.
It’s pretty bad when Goodness is so self-satisfied as to acknowledge that Goodness is it’s own reward. I have to agree with Calvin, that’s a pretty weak argument.
I think Calvin is missing a great opportunity, with all those snowballs made he can divide them and invite Suzie to a snowball fight. Thus being good by offering an enjoyable activity to another person and bad by pelting Suzie with snowballs. It’s win-win, until he gets clobbered by a tag team of Suzie and Hobbes

It’s one thing to lose a battle. It’s another to let your opponents win.

Calvin is like a certain famous author, he can resist anything except temptation.

Which will be the greatest pleasure, throwing those snowballs or what you might get from Santa?

The appeal of instant self-gratification over delayed reward explained. Hopefully some psych or ethics class has used this.

Delayed gratification – one of life’s real conundrums!

Given his aim at times, he may need all those snowballs to make just ONE hit…

Deeply philosophical at his age? Gonna have an interesting if confusing life.

Don’t do it, Calvin!

I must have an advanced sense of deferred gratification. Even as I kid, I always preferred the delayed greater reward.

Philosophy per Calvin.

While hardly putting up a fight, goodness has made Calvin very conflicted!

Goodness itself has to be desirable. Goodness for selfish interest is still badness

There is nothing wrong with Calvin throwing the snowballs. As long as he does not throw them at any living things or other people’s property.

Money now is worth more than money later. Thus usury.

If Calvin isn’t careful, all his snowballs will freeze and he won’t be able to throw them!

Why did Calvin make the snowballs in the first place then??

Or you’re not putting up much of fight against evil.
