Towels I can certainly understand - I don’t know anyone (ok anyone who ISN’T hygiene-impared) who doesn’t need new towels. And I know plenty of people who wait until the christmas sales to buy any household things for themselves - then they give gift cards to restaurants as gifts.
Last week in Elmhurst, Queens, NY, a man was LITERALLY trampled to death by over 2000 greedy shoppers!
First it was Valley stream and now Queens, what has happened to NYC and LI?

Santa mugs?? Who the hell needs Santa mugs?
Would it be better if it were the mugs of the gals from the “View”
Q. “Have we become such a nation of materialistic consumerism that the real meaning of Xmas is totally lost?”
A. The problem isn’t materialism; it’s the decline of character and civility, two things that have been abandoned in public schools, to make room for the extensive instruction in Moral Relativism.
Come to think of it, materialism is EXACTLY what Xmas is about. Christmas is another matter, however.
jerin01 (in response to the Santa Mugs): For shame! Was it really necessary to conjure up that particular mental image?????
Most of those department store sales are such BS anyway… they never even sold the stuff at the highest ‘original offering’ prices in the first place (check the fine print on the bottom of the sales pages). The merch comes in pre-ticketed, and gets ‘marked down’ the very first day. But unless we want more jobs/economy to trickle down the drain, we’d better keep spending from November till January, ho ho ho…..
