my_discworld, Ryan was a guy Mona met in Hawaii. They had a mad fling while Mona was being “Vacation Mona.” He visited Los Angeles a few months later, but Mona was afraid he wouldn’t like “Real Mona.” He liked “Real Mona” just fine, though.
He was sweet and innocent (rather naive, at times) and caring (not a cynical bone in his body) and had killer abs, and for a while it seemed the only question remaining was “Does Mona move to Hawaii, or does Ryan move to Los Angeles?” But Ryan let it slip that he was assuming they’d start a family (and never stop – many many kids). There wasn’t a fight, but Mona realized that the question was just too big. She was unwilliing to deprive Ryan of his kids, but she also knew she wouldn’t be their mother.
This all started about two years ago (I think), and both chunks of continuity were lengthy, so they shouldn’t be too hard to find in the archives.
“Mona Goes to Hawaii” also taught us the only reason Mona is the way she is despite being confronted with loads of evidence that a change in attitude would be good for her is that Status Quo is God.

Ron, I can’t speak for LLeRay, but when I was a baby I’m pretty sure I was yucky, too…
