    Actually, the authors are closer to the truth than they might think….both Flamenco and flamingoes share the same origin(as words of course), named after the flemish nobles of the sixteenth century who gave their name to anything garish or flamboyant…

    Flamingoes are sort of flame-coloured….

    And they are garish and flambouyant.

    I think they may be from Flanders too- no, that’s poppies.
