Actually, Andy Williams’ recording of ‘Moon RIver’ was a cover. The original song in the movie ‘Breakfast At Tiffanys’ was performed by Henry Mancini’s Orchestra & Chorus which won the Academy Award for best song in 1961. Andy recorded his version the following year which went on to become his signature song.
Another cover by Jerry Butler… and considered by many to be the best one of all … was released in 1962 and became a #11 hit on the Billboard Hot 100.

Wondered about the apparent river. I first thought of Andy Summers of the Police “Walking on the Moon”
