Yes, StelBel. I found the style guide and printed it. I wonder how long it’ll take me to inadvertently toss it out this time.
this guide isn’t as in depth as the kind of things you do, but it’s sufficient for my needs. The only pictures I tend to post are smilies and those are easy, peasy.
Fellow Baby it almost slipped my mind to mention that I dropped by Sears on my lunch break on Friday. To my surprise, they were already selling Christmas decorations. I checked to see if they still had the Snoopy I bought last year. Unfortunately, they didn’t, but they did have this cute little Snoopy about half the size all decked out in his Santa suit. You may want to check that out. I may buy one myself. You can never have too many Christmas Snoopys.
no power outage here.just rain and gusts.i have a pot of bean soup on the stove, and a package of cornbread muffin mix, ready to mix.i love my home,i just wish i could get into the car and go down to the sea wall for a half an hour or so and watch the waves.
great northern beans.i use bacon or ham hock. this has ham hock.and its a GOOD ham hock. more meat than skin and fat.i started with onion, and carrots. then i added celery heart (including the tender green leaves in the heart).after i deglazed the pot with a can of chicken broth i added the ham hock, beans, some basil, a bit of oregano, some parsley, garlic, a pinch of nutmeg and black pepper.its bin simmering all afternoon.
Today, we had the blessing of the animals at church. Four dogs showed up. With people in tow. They had a ball playing during the service. I held the hostile little Westie who was the only one who wouldn’t play, the little bully. But he’s old , practically blind and deaf, so I gave him lots of ear scratching.
happy that sounds like A GOOD soup! When I use ham hocks, I generally cook them the day before so they can cool and then I take the fat and grease off. I love to use them for my ham pot pie. They give a good flavor to it.
I think happy and cleo should get together and cook for us and we can bring our own treats, like wine, cheese, beer, crackers. You know? What do you think Fellow Baby, shika, and maybe if all the restaurants are booked, Stel and hubby can drop by? :-D
First day here, and I spent all afternoon in bed, not feeling well. Maybe I was overtired, since I feel a little better now, and I sure hope I will continue to feel better. “Ain’t got no time for that!”
I put together the makings for lasagne today. I found a recipe for Slow Cooker lasagne, and as we all work tmr. I will put everything in the crock including the uncooked lasagne noodles, and we’ll see how it tastes. A friend of mine made it, and she and her hubby said it was very good.
Forgot to say, I will the stuff in the pot when I come home for lunch, as it only takes 3 to 4 hours in the pot. Then it will be ready when we get home.
Shika we always have the Blessing of the Animals on or the closest Sunday to Saint Francis of Assisi’s Feast Day. It’s a pretty decent turnout. Our Parish started that some years ago because our then Pastor had a miniature Schnauzer named Socrates. Oh Socrates was just ADORABLE! I’ve taken dogs and cats of mine. We’ve had guinea pigs, mice, a pot bellied pig, and even a Minature Horse.
no recipe StelBel.i just put the right stuff into the pot.i don’t measure anything on this one.i poor the herbs into my hand until it looks like enough.i start by cleaning about half of a 16oz bag of beans.use what you like.i boil a pot of watter, take it off of the heat, and put the beans in to soak. 3 or 4 hours.i always start by chopping half of a onion and 2 or 3 or 4 carrots.today i used the last three carrots in the bottom of the vegetable keeper.: ) they were limp, to say the least.if im using bacon i start it first. cut about four slices into pieces about as wide as your thumb, and render the fat out. then you sweat the onions and carrots in that.i f i use ham hocks i cook the onion and carrot in canola oil.when i start getting some glazing on the bottom of the pot, i add my celery. i like to use the celery heart with all the green.dont cook that to long, or you will burn the leaves.add a can of stock for broth and get all the color off of the bottom of the pot thats called deglazing.when that starts boiling i simmer it for a few minuets.then i add the garlic, herbage, spices, ham hock, and beans.return it to a simmer, and cook it the rest of the afternoon.at some point before i serve it (a half an hour?) i take the ham hock out and take the meat off of it and put the meat back into the pot.sooo…as you can see, its not so much a recipe as it is a construction.
@Citizen GROG!no.im to lazy for that.most of the time i use any low sodium, no M.S.G. caned or boxed chicken broth.i will buy and use a organic stock if i am making something special.
I can’t believe I forgot that Spock died at the end of the “Wrath of Khan”. Thank goodness for the sequel! “The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few, or the one. I was and always will be your friend, Jim.”
@ Grog. Sorry about that. My mom called and then I had dinner.
No, the dog was more like a blonde movie star, male, playing up to the ladies. He was the youngest one there at four years old, and still acting like a puppy.
Yes, Fellow Baby as they all were peering out at the vast universe. Just finished watching it on NetFlix. Now we are watching “American Battleship” a SciFi and the battleship is called “Enterprise”.
Enjoy the movie Fellow Baby! I did after not having seen it in so long! That was truly a GREAT movie for any Trekkies! And Ricardo Montabon (sp.) did such a great job. The original series episode with him as Kahn, besides “Mirror, Mirror” was one of their best.
Well, I won’t be staying up that much later to pop in another DVD, Fellow Baby Funny how the even number Trek movies were the best while other movies that had sequels the odd numbered ones were the best,
good night friends.good night people and pets.i got mom to bed, and darned if it didn’t feel like it was easer than normal.maybe all the weight lifting id helping me.now that i said that, im certain to pull something lifting mom sometime tomorrow.: /

I can’t say the same for mac & cheese or lasagna.
