Many years ago a neighbours cat got chased by a dog and bolted straight up a 100ft high Palm tree, You could just barely see him at the top with the aid of binoculars.
We all waited for several days to see if puss would eventually climb down, But alas to no avail.
Animal rescue services were called before things got too serious. They had to obtain an industrial building construction crane to reach the top canopy and rescue puss.
Much to the owners embarrassment someone alerted the local newspaper and the following mornings paper featured full details of this puss and his “Pacific Island Holiday” on the front page with photos.
The owners of the Palm Tree have now put a steel sheath around the lower 6ft of the Palm Tree to avoid further feline misadventures.
