I posted this on yesterday’s page, but in case you missed it: “KingRat, has the correct list. Sorry to disappoint, but it is a generic zombie. When I was a kid zombies were portrayed as these enormous guys, zoned out by voodoo on remote Caribbean islands, ‘Night of the Living Dead’ changed that to reanimated rotting corpses looking for flesh to eat. That’s the type presented here. Kudos to Possum Pete for picking out the guy from Plan Nine.”

The players in this strip include “the Creature form the Black Lagoon,” the Wolfman and the Frankenstein monster. The witch is generic, although she’s similar to a witch in one of the old Warner Brothers cartoons.

After long last I have finally read all the “Cleats” strips availabe on GoComics after a reference in a “Frog Applause” strip pique my interest. Bill, you are awesome, your comic covers topics far from kids’ sports issues, and you make me want to have kids and put them in activities. Not anytime soon, however. Thank you, I am your newest believer.

Wow. What a nice compliment! I’m floored. Thanks for going back and reading all those strips. I’m sure you noticed how much the strip has changed.

ryan: how did you read all the Cleats strips if you’re not a PRO? I’m not doubting you, man, just asking how you pulled it off.

The Warner Brothers witch is known as Witch Hazel. She generally appeared with Bugs Bunny, as in Bewitched Bunny (1954), Broomstick Bunny (1956) and A Witch’s Tangled Hare (1959). Witch Hazel was voiced by June Foray, the queen of women voice artists, who also did the voice for Rocket J. Squirrel.
