i did a soccer game, once, when a referee failed to show up for my 5 year old niece’s game and had a great time doing it. of course the parents were all focused on their little darlings and paid no attention to the big guy with the whistle. (and i had made it clear before i started that i had only the vaguest knowledge of the rules, so arguing calls would be no help at all.)

Being a soccer referee is actually really rewarding when you are the ref for younger kids.
