Cleats by Bill Hinds for March 16, 2024
Transcript:
Jack: Dad, I need to get something for my skateboarding. Gary: A deck? Wheels? Bearings? Trucks? Helmet? Pads? Jack: A video camera. Gary: A video camera? You may not believe this, but all I had when I was a kid was roller skate wheels nailed to a flat board. Jack: I'd believe it if you had videotaped it.

In my day, we ground the metal wheels on our clip on roller skates down to the bearings, skating circles around our basement.

As you can see, Jack wants to record and document every single skateboard trick and stunt he’s ever done. But in order to do that, he’ll need a video camera. Preferably a high resolution camera with cool special effects.

When I got new Super Skates, my dad took my old key style skates and made me a skateboard just like that.
