I had a few of those in 34 years. The apple doesn’t usually fall far from the tree.

Said my daughter, the special ed teacher, “You see the parents, and you know why the kid is the way he is.”

But we keep books in the house. There’s the TV guide, and eh, well we have books. The Town Crier comes every Friday. That has ads and pictures. I taught him his ABGs myself.

Since all the applicable comments here today are pro-teacher… Sometimes the teachers deserve it from the parents too, for their behavior against children. I was blamed for quite a few things that I had to prove I didn’t do, or that I did because the teacher told me to do it. It didn’t seem right to me, I asked, are you sure? They said yes, I did it, and then they blamed me, like when I was told in Kindergarten to go draw on the chalkboard with the crayon, then she told my mother I destroyed the expensive chalk board. Then after I was questioned and my mother came in and told her that I said I was told to do it and even asked her if she was sure that’s what she wanted me to do, she told me yes, so I did it. I got an apology, because she knew she was wrong. And when the teacher told me to stay in my seat until she told me I could get up. The bell rang for lunch and she left me sitting there. She told my mother I refused to go to lunch. I told my mother that I was told to sit there until she told me I could get up and she didn’t tell me I could get up to go to lunch, and I didn’t get to eat. She left me sitting in that room with the lights off. It was true. I got another apology. She knew she was wrong. I wasn’t a bad kid. I was an A student. Teachers aren’t always poor victims of students, and all students are NOT inner city, 6 year old drug dealers. I agree there are serious behavioral disturbances in those settings though, that make it impossible to teach the others, and I agree that those parents are usually uninterested. I’ve heard the stories.

I know a few people who are teachers, and I wouldn’t want any of them infecting my child with their questionable lifestyle choices either. Some of them belong in jail, not around kids.

Enough seriousness. The bars to protect the parents are probably a good idea. How about some plexiglass too?

I see the bars – but who’s locked in? Her, or them?

Joe Allen, go argue with all the other people who are currently in altercations with you. You have a lot to say every stinking day, and you can’t get along with anybody. Get away from your own windows! I have a right to comment here. I don’t see why you should have a problem with my comment, or why you should insult me for it. You think you’re so above it all, but it’s always you slinging the mud, as observed by all the fights you’re in every day.

My experiences were in the early 70’s in somewhat affluent suburbs, and the inner city teachers I was speaking of teach in present day New Haven, CT. Look it up. There are 6 year old drug dealers! Their parents will come and punch a teacher right in the face for calling their house. It happened to my female cousin.
