    I don’t think the pigs that “donate” that particular part survive the procedure, it not like a kidney where you have an extra one.

    Heart valves have little taste. The slaughterhouse removes them for medical use – along with glands for medicines and several other non-culinary purposes. The last I heard, the squeal is still wasted.

    Mine is a mechanical valve. A pig valve needs to be replacved about every 8 years, A mechanical valve has a lifetime guarantee - when it stops so does your life.
