When I was in college (in the 60’s), I did my laundry (clothes, towels, sheets) weekly at the laundramat. In the Navy I did them weekly, or when in port. Now I do an occassional load of my clothes when my wife has gotten behind in the laundry (won’t do her’s for fear of ruining something).
