For every move, you have to deal with all the utilities, notify all your contacts of your new address by going in person to the Post Office because you haven’t got phone or cable for internet and you’re in a dead zone for cell reception, register to vote by visiting the City Clerk’s office in person, visit the DMV in person and also pay your property taxes. Then undo it all, in addition to the physical task of packing up and moving and unpacking and setting up all your stuff.
I have a recurring dream about moving. I only have a day and most of the place isn’t even packed or I find a room full of stuff that everyone forgot about.
Humans are so inventive with their myths. First they create them then they play with them. Isn’t it grand being human? I know I find enjoyment in it. “Hell’s Bells” episode of Night Gallery staring John Astin as a hippy who dies in a wreck. He is quite the dark one for loving the aspects of the Inquisition and views of Hell being like the Medievalists painted it. Unfortunately for him it is boring and bothersome. He is told that there is an identical one “up there”.
