Actually, all of John Chapman’s trees were crab apple trees. You can’t grow any other kind from apple seeds.

Orchard trees are produced by grafting branches onto young trunks.

I had to smile when I saw this. Growing up I lived next door to a descendant of Mr Chapman. A nice gentleman.
