Mine stomped on my dreams and told me to pursue something else. Should’ve gone with my passion but I was dissuaded.

With the personnel shortages facing school districts this year, this is about right.

This really hit home for me. I’ve worked as a counselor in a middle school, a university and a community college. In each case, administrators had a hard time comprehending what counselors were all about. There were so many ways I could have helped students, but ended up a majority of the time with duties that had nothing to do with what I was trained to do. At the middle school, I wanted to see every student who was failing two or more subjects, just to see how I might be able to help. However, my other non-counselor duties kept me from having the time to do that. Could I have made a difference? I’ll never know.

At my high school, I would have been better off with a magic 8 ball for a guidance counselor!

Had a tech support job for a while. Had a Magic 8-Ball on my desk as a necessary resource. Took a couple of days’ vacation, setup the 8-ball on my chair, wearing my headset.

I asked the 8-ball a definite ‘no’ question, hoping it would turn up a ‘yes’ answer. It never did; rather just answered ‘no’, or ‘better not tell you now’. Question: Do I currently have or ever had a uterus in this body I have now? (I’m a guy.)
