The Boondocks by Aaron McGruder for March 22, 2024
Transcript:
Huey: Who are you gonna talk to with your two-way? Huh? Tell me that! Riley: None of your business - don't worry about it! Huey: You're being brainwashed. The media are telling you every young black man has a two-way pager, and cornrows, and a wife-beater t-shirt, and a silly do-rag... Riley: That reminds me, who would I need to talk to about a platinum tooth - a dentist or a jeweler? Huey: Good grief.

I just realized I don’t see many people with a gold tooth nowadays. As a kid it seemed like every other adult over 35 had one.

Gold teeth didn’t use to be a fad or a certain stereotype of people. I remember Elmer Fudd showing off one to Bugs Bunny in a 1940’s something Bob Clamplett cartoon.

I have a gold crown on a molar. It’s my second one. I sold the first one to a gold buyer for twenty dollars.

Ernest T. Bass wanted a gold tooth. He was going to have two front teeth removed and put it in the middle, so it would show up better.

I had a very skillful dentist, now retired, who loved her craft, and treated it like jewelry work, which in a way it is.
