    Still mad – here’s a repeat of yeterday’s post…

Sorry, I’m still hurting from those cheap shots by Sheik and others yesterday. Memorial day slagging of your allies? The Canadian military take second place to nobody in valour! I’ll take the Canucks over the Doughboys any day! Canadian troops were protecting your a$$ in WWI and II before you woke up! We’re still doing it in Afghanistan!

BTW, your history is wrong too – we had to repulse invasions of Irish-American terrorists in 1866 and 1870! Check out the “Fenian raids.”

For the rest of us, thank God for the heroes who have kept our countries free for so long. May we continue to be blessed by their bravery!

I was making a joke about the War of 1812 actually being fought in 1812. I meant no disrespect to The Great White North. I enjoy back bacon, ice hockey, and curling. Strange Brew is one of my favorite movies. If you perceive a slight where none was intended, you must be very thin-skinned, which is a disadvantage in cold climates.

Boys a dear! we’ll never get Pearls Before Swine at this rate. BTW colder annual climates do engender greater rates of depression. Even so - Canadian actor chicks are hot….

Vicky needs to keep her Gladstones and not have them removed.

charles: Yes, he was the better of the two notorious rivals (Gladstone and Disraeli) but Victoria seriously disliked him.

My wife’s family name is Gladstone. The theory is that while en route from the Poland area to Brooklyn, they paused long enough in England to pick up a non-Jewish-sounding-name, whatever the motivation.

I guess “Disraeli” didn’t do it for them, though he was born a Jew. Regardless, it seriously muddled any genealogical searches.

Concerning Sunday strip honouring Memorial day: Thanks Pab, we owe you one.

@ComYic That Canadian one looks like a cry to drop and run. @Bluedyscotty Run away! Run away! @cabrobst The guy in the top right poster looks terrified enough to bleeep himself. THAT is one realistic war poster.

Read above comments about warposter of Canadian soldier depicted in Sunday strip honouring Memorial day and had to answer. Your remarks are an insult and unworthy of Americans. Yes, the man in the poster shows fear [whoever doesn’t in such a situation is a fool], but he also shows determination to face the fear and finish the task at hand. Canada has nothing to be ashamed about. When US troops finally made it to Europe, they stepped over the graves of Canucks who came and did not run Dieppe . May all those who gave their lives, Canadians, Americans and those who fought and died with them

    Rest In Peace.

    A not so humble Canuck

    Je me souviens

I can’t find the original English version of the poster. (I must have cleaned it out over the past two years.) But the French version of the poster, along with a number of other Canadian propaganda posters from World War II can be seen here: http://bit.ly/aboR7x

If it weren’t for the intervention of the Unites States in World War II, half of Canada would be speaking French now!
