Okay! Hey, I’m back! My computer crashed, like big time. So I had to go buy a new one and it’s taken this long to restore everything. At least I hope I’ve got everything. My thanks to Nun’ya for posting the links in my absence. And thanks to all who expressed concern for my safety and health!
Even with the technology of the time Dr. Dark has many innovations from his metal impregnated with anti barnacle toxin (works on any other life that manages to settle on the hull), Its lack of much resistance or friction was so fine that nothing would sit on it long before falling off. Only the giant crab could and that was Dr. Dark’s doing as well. From finding the species, to modifying it then growing and training it were all his. He is one of the few humans who can multitask successfully. He wanted his sentinel to be stead fast for a long haul job. It had to be smart enough and tough enough to survive. Today was a good day to awake in a new world. He was surprised the chronometer showed the year as “2021 A.D.” a bit long for his taste. Never-the-less he can handle it.His device stood the test of time even if the usual technology of simple man did not. He can handle anything. By the time the USA and Russia noted the sub had left it had been many hours and Dr. Dark’s submarine can travel a long distance and runs itself which is why there were no crew member tubes or corpses. it wasn’t totally “turned off” either its internal systems were lubricating itself for when they would be turned on again. He even has his own stealth system, though it might not be quite as good as it would be in the late 1940’s.
His is the first that used lamenal flow to aid in it sliding through the water with little resistance to it. And silent is how it runs. Even his small weapons compliment are of his own design or modification then existing armaments. Mines, torpedoes etc. A mix of USA, Russian, German and Japanese from the four countries he worked for from 1933 – 1946.
What he needs now is a base which will be difficult being so long after his last waking experiences. He will have to see if his island is still usable for a base. He really shouldn’t have told that Wells fellow so much that he used it all in his books. Nemo and Robur that’s him! He should have asked for residuals. At least from the standpoint and understanding of a simple normal intelligent human. His fusion furnace annihilator is still functioning well within his operational parameters. Very good. He needs to turn his omnivision device on to see what he can see about the world in the second decade of the 21st century. (In 1938, Oliver Warbucks has such a device too. I wonder if…)
Dr. Dark expects to be impressed, expects that maybe the world-at-large has caught up to him.
