Looks like Rip is in the driver’s seat now, and the swoosh lines seem to be curving. Should we hope?

After he gets himself, and, DOug out of this, Rip will have to face an even greater evil. The IRS 1040, and, all it’s schedules! It’s a fate worth than death for a free lance man of action!

Oh no! Even a drunken Cary Grant in North By Northwest had a better chance of survival! Now that I think about it, Rip kind of favors Cary with his smooth way with the ladies and one-of-a kind accent. Can you hear it? Ju-day, Ju-day, Ju-day!

Did Rip actually get into the front seat between panels 2 & 3 or is the last panel a mistake? If Rip were actually in the driver’s seat he wouldn’t be trying to cajole Doug into stepping up to the task.

I confess I have very little sympathy for Doug at this time.
