Back a number of years ago a wildlife agent friend of mine in central PA told me that if the road kill was immediately processed that it was good to consume. Where he worked they had a local meat processor who would butcher and wrap it all and donate it to the homeless shelters. The state found out and made them stop. PA has a lot of deer and a lot of them are killed on the roads every year. Near I-80 the state has installed some underpasses in areas where a number of deer try to cross the highway, to help keep down the number of accidents. Seems the deer never look both ways. At first the deer would not use them so the state placed some deer scent in the tunnels to get deer to use them.

My niece dressed a deer that had been killed by a car. Husband is a state cop, responding to the accident, called her because he was in uniform…
