Almost never eat fast food and the few times we do, it’s because we are on route and can’t find a better restaurant. At least the fries are always hot then, as we can just eat them after we’ve parked the car. Never would occur to me to drive home with fast food, I like my burgers and fries warm.
There is a way to warm them up but it takes a few minutes. Dump the fries in a large cast iron skillet on med heat, scramble them around a bit. Microwaving doesn’t work, they won’t be crispy when you get them out.
OK, I’m a little off topic here, but IMHO the best fried potato experience is home made potato chips. Use the wide-slice side of a box grater, and a deep fat fryer. Brutus is right about eating them hot. Most Canadians will add salt with apple cider, malt or balsamic vinegar. If you are going to add ketchup, gravy or mayonnaise, please don’t tell me.
Back when I was a kid, the rare going-out-to-eat involved going to McDonald’s, taking the food out to the car, passing out the food items (napkins, ketchup and salt packets), and eating your meal (hamburgers, fries, and a drink) in the car parked in front of McDonald’s.
True Story: Yesterday, as I was pumping my gas, I saw a woman in her car, sitting at the gas pump next to me, scratching off instant lottery tickets, while a line of cars sat behind her! She was not getting gas at all. I was there several minutes to get gas, and she never moved. I can’t believe anyone in one of the cars behind her didn’t walk up to her and tell her to move it!
I can see how they might get a little upset. Why don’t you just take you and your Uncle down to that French Fry place and order a big cheeseburger and a drink to accompany those fries so they won’t be lonely and just enjoy each other’s company. You also won’t get that cacophony of car horns bothering you. Just a thought….
There used to be a few good frozen french fries. As for the fast food, most are okay as long as they are hot. I was told to use an air fryer to reheat them if they get cold. Sadly I was recently diagnosed with esophageal cancer and I am on a liquid diet and can’t eat anything solid, so I don’t know whether the air fryer trick works or not.
Been playing around with fries and the “Air Fry” function in our conventional oven. Pretty dang good… Pretty dang inexpensive… And Pretty dang better for you then fast food! And you don’t have to drive!!!
I don’t eat in my car, no one eats in my car, and if I did want fast food, I would eat it inside at a table while it’s still hot, assuming my order actually came the way I wanted it. I like to eat out sometimes, and I like to cook sometimes. I do not like to bring home cold food.

As they should. The least you could do is move the car to a parking spot.
