This does bring up a question regarding self driving cars: who is liable for accidents and other traffic infractions? The car’s owner or the manufacturer?
I have cruise control that keeps me so many car lengths behind any car in front of me that is slower than my setting. I have a mantra; “Trust the electronics. Trust the electronics….”
Also the car has a “stick shaker” that rattles the steering wheel if I lane wander.
You can: Take it to court and plead insanity; Give it to the dealer and let him pay it or just throw the ticket away as I would probably do. Then again, being the honest guy that you are, you will no doubt pay it yourself…..
All this technology sounds great, but technology fails too often to make me want to get a car that has all that stuff. I’m pretty good at braking quickly, staying in my own lane, and parking, so I’ll pass.
There’s an aspect of self-driving cars that bothers me greatly: The prospect of the government being able to control them. Don’t be naive enough to think it can’t happen. For any reason they deem “necessary”, they could decree that you aren’t allowed to go anywhere “for the good of all”.
no doubt whatsoever that the clueless types who, oops, hit the accelerator instead of the brake in the parking lot and smash into a convenience store will find a way to do similar damage with a self-driving vehicle…

Brutus seems to have an uncanny knack for keeping the tow truck drivers gainfully employed as well as the Police department . .

KITT would have never made that mistake.

It’s self parking, not self thinking. You still have to do that.

I thought he was going to say that once the car was parked, he couldn’t get it out of the parking space.

All new technology has bugs that have to be worked out over time, Brutus.
