Some years ago (I believe long enough the statue of limitations has expired or the cheep president/gift giver has) I worked for a company that, at Christmas, the CEO would host a party in NY for his staff and their spouses. His gifts were stock options, Tiffany silver and other high end presents and the dinner was hosted at the St Regas hotel. He retired and the new president and his spouse hosted their first party at some out of town resort and the gifts were ugly Christmas sweaters that we were expected to wear at the next morning’s Christmas brunch buffet. That night my spouse and I decided my company was on the way down and we both resigned from our repective jobs and we moved back to So. Cal. where we are living happily ever after. Gave the sweaters away.
It can be both festive and ugly but you just keep doing you, Brutus. And if you happen to back into the prize for ugliest sweater (to a born loser? what a bend in the universe!) act like you planned it!
Some of the 3-D ones with a bunch of bells, lights, garland, etc. can be ugly, but I think most Christmas sweaters are festive and nice-looking, including the one Brutus is wearing. I’d wear that!
Oh wait – I forgot. I have two long sleeved t-shirts for Christmas. One has a simple Christmas tree on it, and one has a picture of Santa that says, “Believe.” I forgot about them, since I have had them about 10 years and wore each one once.
it’s sad that we as a society put negative spins on everything, we shame animals for doing what comes naturally and we call other people’s clothes ugly just because they aren’t the average look. whatever happened to building people up instead of trying to tear them down? Wear what you like Brutus, don’t be a slave to self-important people who judge you.

So what does your ugly sweater look like, Brutus? We must see. Or is it better left to our imaginations?

The reindeer on our hero’s sweater reminds me of Scooby Doo with antlers.

It is my good friend. It most definitely is. Your intent is what counts. If others consider it tacky, that’s their problem…..

Arnie has no tact. I’m with Brutus. The sweater looks festive to me, too.

Tis the season for ugly sweaters, but frankly I think it is festive with a cheerful reindeer.

“Ugly sweaters puts everybody in a festive Christmas mood, ugly anything too, I look at Veeblefester and I’m in a festive mood” thinks Brutus…

Brutus gets points for covering well in panel two and not blurting out to Arnie his aside to us from panel three.

when it comes to clothes, isn’t “festive” another synonym for “ugly”…
Chris Sherlock 12 months ago
They’re nor mutually exclusive.
