I know the stereotype, and once, in Germany, I saw a bunch of road worker sitting around enjoying a case of beer. But I have to admit, around here when I see road workers, they really are working very hard and often in unpleasant conditions. I certainly don’t want that job.

I guess the old adage is true: “if you don’t have anything nice to say, say something stupid.”

It’s not about whether they’re leaning on a shovel or not leaning on a shovel.

And I’ve seen a lot of construction workers on their cell phones recently.

They take turns. In the first place, there is usually only room for one in the hole. I dare any one of you physically fit sports to dig even 2 hours straight….Second, someone has to direct traffic away from the workers this is for your safety as well as theirs.third, how come you are able to stand around the water cooler and complain about other workers that, to you, seem to be slackers?

Sure they take it easy while waiting for the truck. Then they have 10 minutes to smooth two tons of asphalt.
