I think it’s the recurring jokes, a lot of which I missed the first time, that come across as totally random. I keep adding and subtracting this strip from my subscription when I start getting a heavy dose of copter cats or runaway tractors. (Sorry to be Debbie Downer.)
It now occurs to me that “Dilbert” is obviously geared toward adults. Comics featuring kids are expected to be simple enough for kids. That’s why C&B has trouble.
