There was a great sledding hill behind our school. Recess in Wintertime was great. They no longer allow sledding for fear of an injury lawsuit. Same for all the hills I remember from childhood.

And that’s where the disk slipped, right when you came flying off the sled into the tree…;)

Near our university main building was a steep hill that debouched onto the freeway. I remember sliding down it when the snow was iced over. No sled needed, just a piece of cardboard. No retaining wall, just posts and chains at waist height. We did it without thinking. Now I remember it and shudder.

Would that be the City Park or the County lake park?

For me it was sledding down King Hill or skating and snacks at the outdoor rink at Longfellow Elementay.

My memory tells me County Lake park. I think.WyCo Lake is so cool in the winter. Attended a wedding at the Club house on the lake a few years ago. It was built in the 1930’s and had 2 wood burning fireplaces blazing that night.

The discs we had in the late 50s were “Saturn Saucers.”

I found that my vinyl coat was faster than the sleds, including steel runner Flexible Flyers.

The most popular snow vehicle at my grad school was a cafeteria tray.
