Dill: My brother got a job at the grocery store as a cartherd! Alice: Yeah? I wish Petey'd get a job like that. Dill: Every day he searches the parking lot for stray carts and gathers them into a long line. It is an awesome responsibility. Alice: Petey would probably pinch his finger and have to go to the grocery store nurse.

actually we’re called stockmen..and there are nights I wish I just had to only gather the carts up. Overnights are a pain…

First congrats on your nomination. If you’re a cartherder does that mean when the wind is blowing and the carts are all over the parking lot it’s a stampede?:D

I always thought they were more like Conductors of the Cart-train. Our local folks use an electric powered cart to push the line of strays, and they direct the lead cart across the lot and into the store. It looks like more fun than it probably is - but ain’t that true for most jobs.

Always makes me wonder when I see a shopping cart blocks, or even miles, away from it’s place of origin.
Wonder if those cartherders get paid milage. I also think they should have cart dogs to help them herd them carts.

Are the cartherders part of a “cartel”?

Cul de Sac is my new favorite strip, right up alongside Calvin and Hobbes. Thanks for your brilliance.
