Alice: YAY! A new shoebox diorama! Petey: It's my science project on Pollen. Alice: Who's the little guy with a tissue? Petey: He's got pollen allergies. These packing peanuts represent the pollen. Now I'll stuff them in. Alice: Boy, I'll bet he sneezes really loud! Petey: When you sneeze, the pollen comes out your nose at the speed of sound. That's why it's so loud.

On YouTube, there is an episode about pollen allergies from a Japanese TV show called “Begin Japanology” (which has half-hour documentaries on various topics in Japanese life).

Sounds like Petey’s science IQ is on a par with Lucy Van Pelt’s. “Why is Charlie Brown banging his head against that tree?” “To loosen the bark so the tree will grow faster.”

I hope poor little diorama guy doesn’t also have peanut allergies.

I suspect ANYTHING you hear is coming at you at the speed of sound (smile).

Someday we’ll figure out how to fly faster than the speed of sneeze.
