He did. He didn’t turn on the water until the sprinkler was placed. It just has it in for him, due to the cartoonist by-laws.

Duh! Set the sprinkler farther away from the hydrant before you turn it on. Get a longer hose if needed. Then grab the hose and drag the sprinkler around if you need to water close to the hydrant.
