I had two kids from the 70’s, they mouthed off. Hell, now they are in their 30’s and sometimes they still mouth off. Of course, now they have kids that mouth off to them.
Abba is one of the pop band icons of the 70s. That said, I remember listening to Cat Stevens; Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young; Carole King; James Taylor; Elton John and many many more.
I wasn’t there for this particular story: A co-worker told me he was eating in a local diner and called up a Beatles tune on the jukebox. (This was in the mid-80s.) Kid in an adjacent booth asked the adult with whom he was eating who was playing on the jukebox. Adult explained to the oblivious kid who the Beatles were. Kid says, “McCartney was in a band before Wings!?”

To rephrase John Denver (1943-1997) a little, “Thank God I’m [an 80s] boy” (I was born in ’84, by the way).

I was a kid in the 70s. I was there. We all mouthed-off at some time or other. Then we’d get slapped.

@Tony, 70s is when my 4 kids (born in early 60s) had THIER music, and I made them listen on earphones because I hated it.
