Tony’s question for today is “What’s the medal count?”

Sorry, the answer will have to come from somebody who’s counting.

You know, it’s not that I don’t admire all those fine young athletes and what they can do…but I’m not into sports, or watching them…

And using their talents in the service of an international bragging contest has never interested me.

I’m especially appalled when it involves pushing them into stress, doping, backbiting, overtraining injuries…and all the other things that can happen when scores become more important than love of a sport, and comparisons count more than sportsmanship.

    Also from Tony:

“The Italia Report:Yesterday we arrived in Sassano (pictured)… a small town nestled in the valley surrounded by mountains, where my Father was born. He held a reception for all the relatives (about 65-70) that remain and it was a huge success. Everyone is so nice and welcoming. My Father was over the moon, and I was incredibly happy that everything turned out so well. Tomorrow… I hope to catch up on some sleep and then more visiting and eating! Back at ya when I get better reception.Peace,Tony”

Medal count?Did you know Olympian’s are paid for each medal they win?So if they don’t win all that training goes to waste!!! And the money is pretty big! So much for Gold, Silver and Bronze! Of course they are taxed on them too!!!

I used to watch the Olympics in previous times, but could not bring myself to do so this time. It’s enough for me to see the wins on the news. Not sure if I would want to see the Olympics next time either.

I would watch the Olympics if I could watch it on some channel other than NBC.And as of right now, the USA medal count is 24 g, 18 s, 18 b = 60 total.

Who know, who cares? I sure don’t! The games can’t end fast enough for my liking.

What a bunch of ‘debbie-downers’. The games have been going on for a long, long time. They bring the world together for a brief moment. Some of these people train their whole lives for this one moment – and they enjoy it. It’s their dream. They have stories to tell. Yes, there’s some bad things that go on like anything else. I’m not into watching sports but their is a great variety here. I record them and watch the ones I enjoy. If even Stan can find something to like, it can’t be all bad.

I don’t KNOW WHY NBC always has to host this! MY SOAP "Days of Our Lives always gets pre-empted for 2 frickin’ weeks! I learned this year, and recorded enough of the best of the past month to watch in the meantime. Yeah, I’m addicted, but what can I say? Been watching since day one, when I was a little girl! Praise the lord and pass the biscuits, ESPN has beat NBC out for the next round, as well as Wimbeldon!
