The first time my either of my parents asked that question of me was a not so subtle indicator I had best get busy doing my homework. My dad being a teacher never bought the line, “I don’t have any,” because he taught in the school I attended…The second time, well, not often was I given a second reminder, just a directive to get it done so one of my parents could check it.
