I have to say that, even as a huge fan of old movies and TV, I have become appalled by the assumptions about and treatment of women — even the benign treatment — since the MeToo movement provided a different prospective. When you disallow for “well, it was the times, you know”, suddenly it all becomes very ugly and grossly unromantic. The fact that women were often complicit doesn’t make it any better. Not a matter of “the more the merrier” by any means.
